Tricks and oddities from Korea and Taiwan

Updated

Based on
Korean and Taiwanese player threads and Korean press; almost none of it checked in the global client yet

This is one of my working notes, not a notebook entry. I have not verified it in the global client: it is what I follow while I play, taken from the sources below. What I confirm moves to the notebook.

How to read this

Korea and Taiwan are a year ahead, and their version is not ours. What you’ll find here is what their players say: some of it will hold as is in the global client and some won’t. I’ll move things to the notebook as I see them.

Flying by folding your wings

Flight runs out fast, and people who know don’t fly in one go: they hop.

  1. Open your wings and take off forward, accelerating.
  2. Fold your wings mid-dash.
  3. Momentum keeps carrying you. Just as you start to fall, open them again.
  4. Repeat, keeping a rhythm.

According to the Korean press, this covers distances you couldn’t reach flying normally, using less than half the bar. It’s mostly useful for picking up feathers and Odyle, and for reaching hidden cubes.

Hidden cubes

  • They’re small chests hidden around the map. According to global client data there are 206, and 95 are in Verteron.
  • Each cube can spawn in many different spots, so there’s no fixed map. The forums say where to look: halfway up a cliff, on rooftops, in gaps between ledges, on hidden shores.
  • You can open them as they are or with a key. With a key, the reward comes from a better list.
  • Keys come from quests, dungeons and the Monolith.
  • Among the 36 possible rewards there are wings, emotes and appearances, plus consumables.

The wardrobe raises stats

  • Extracting a piece of gear gives you its appearance, and owning appearances raises stats permanently.
  • According to a Taiwanese thread, quest gear always gives the appearance, and gear dropped by monsters does about one time in five.
  • Four duplicate appearances can be fused into a new one.
  • Weapons of other classes count toward the total, but not toward stats.
  • In Korea there’s a title for collecting 700 appearances that gives 5% combat speed.

The practical upshot: you don’t sell old gear, you extract it. Even if you already have the stones you want, every new piece is one more appearance.

Titles

  • They give stats just for owning them, and a bit more if you wear them.
  • There are three families: attack, defense and other. You wear one of each.
  • You have to apply them by hand. Several Taiwanese players warn that getting the title isn’t enough: you have to select it and press the apply button.
  • Claiming achievements with the red notification drops titles on you without looking for them.

Some of the best, according to the Korean press, and where they come from:

How to get it What it gives
Finish chapter 6 of the story 5% movement speed
Complete the sealed dungeons 5% less cooldown
Monolith at level 20 5.5% PvP damage
Monolith at level 30 300 defense
25 different wings 5.5% PvE survivability
200 pets 6% survivability against bosses

Pets and races

Every pet belongs to one of five races. Getting pets and leveling them raises your “comprehension” of that race, up to level 10, and each level opens a stat slot that can be rerolled with Soul Crystals.

Koreans call it the ultimate background grind, and they give one piece of advice: don’t spend crystals rerolling early. The good stats don’t show up until comprehension levels 4, 7 and 9.

In the global client it’s called Genus Insight, and I’ve tried it: one analysis fills every slot of that race at once and also adds experience to it (the entry).

Dimensional Invasion

It’s the 3-minute co-op event you join from the clock next to the minimap; Beritra Air Raid is one of its scenarios. According to allthings.how, points come from damage and kills, the final boss gives a lot of them, and your placement decides how many loot cards you pick: 4 for the top two, 3 down to fifth place. You get one key per day, up to 7, and it’s only spent when you pick cards: if you place badly, you cancel and keep it for another run. I haven’t checked the key part.

Control tricks

  • Hold it down. Holding the click, your character keeps attacking without you clicking each time. With a skill on cooldown, it recasts itself as soon as it’s ready.
  • Stunned boss: hold the finisher key; no need to mash it.
  • Storage: right-click moves the item in at once.
  • Teleport scrolls: the regular merchant sells them. They only take you to points you’ve already visited.
  • Settings they recommend turning on: marking the boss’s back, and having consumables used automatically in combat.

Things worth knowing beforehand

  • No need to farm the golden weapon from the level 38 dungeon: the story gives you one at the end. Verified: I got the golden Spiritforged Greatsword.
  • There’s a story gate that asks for 1,000 power to get through. Verified: in the global client it’s the quest to enter the Abyss, at level 45, and it asks for 1,000 item level (the entry).
  • Just hitting an enemy counts for the quest, even if someone else kills it.
  • Deleting a character leaves the slot locked for seven days.
  • When creating a character, you can’t check beforehand whether the name is free.

Once you’re level 45

On bosses:

  • The circle under the boss’s health bar is the berserk countdown: it starts turning when the fight begins.
  • The teal bar is the Stagger bar. What fills it is a fixed value per skill, not damage: a group with more damage doesn’t fill it faster. Statuses like sleep or root don’t count, because bosses are immune.
  • If you’re rooted, a prompt appears to break free with the space bar. Its cooldown shows at the bottom center.
  • The white and red star next to the health bar of a boss or a teammate places a marker.
  • According to a Taiwanese thread, killing the first two bosses of an expedition improves what comes out of the final cube. Loot that drops directly from the last boss can be traded; loot from the cube can’t.

Potions:

  • The Superior Life Potion heals 10% health over 10 seconds; the normal one, 5%.
  • Auto-use is set in Settings → Combat → Auto-use, “Auto Use HP Condition”. By default it triggers at 70%.
  • The Healing Potion doesn’t heal health: it removes a negative status. Save it for bosses that apply them.

Gear:

  • Golden items aren’t extracted: they’re used to reroll Soul Binding lines. Take them out of quick extraction.
  • Before a Substance Morph, remove the piece from every saved gear set.
  • Extracting a piece destroys the Manastones it has.
  • Each fortress gives 2 belt scrolls, and it’s the only source. The amulet ones come from Monolith levels.
  • A quest Clash Rune can’t go past +1.

Limits and entries:

  • Duty Quests, Shugo Festival keys and Unknown Fissure entries are per server, not per character. Spend them on your main character.
  • Nightmare only spends the attempt when you kill the boss: you can go in to learn the fight.
  • Ascension Trial spends it on entry.
  • According to Daeva Guides, the sealed dungeons of the opposite faction don’t give Daevanion crystals in the global client.
  • According to MeinMMO, across all the sealed dungeons you can collect up to 360 Daevanion points.
  • In Korea they say the sealed dungeons scale to your level, and that it pays to leave the remaining ones for after 45.
  • The Daevanion title raises stats, but not combat power.

Careful with the guides: Daeva Guides gives 3 Shugo Festival keys per day with a cap of 12, and specializations at skill levels 8, 12 and 20. In my client it was 21 keys with membership, and the third Keen Strike specialization comes at 16.

And the oddities

  • If you bring the camera close to your character, it sometimes winks at you.
  • There are monsters that dance around a totem.

What I’ve seen and what I haven’t

I’ve verified little of this page: that gear is extracted and gives the appearance, that the Monolith exists and gives keys, that the story gives you a golden weapon, and that the 1,000 gate exists. The rest comes from the forums, and part of it is from the current Korean version, which is ahead of ours.
